I was on my way to my last Basic Photography class up North near Zona Rosa from work and drove by a pond with geese in it. I have driven by this pond several times before and have always thought it'd be a good picture opportunity. But of course, I never had my camera with me. So last night I had my camera! Yay! It was a nice and sunny evening as well. I got out of my car and walked over towards the geese. Well guess what? They just kept on walking away, including the baby geese. They were cute though. Unfortunately, none of them were in the water but I still got a few good pictures of them. Enjoy :)

Last week, I took a stroll around River Walk in Leavenworth during my lunch hour. It was very sunny and warm out and I was wearing heels. My feet didn't feel so good after that. I took a bunch of pictures trying to practice what I have learned so far in the Basic Photography class I am taking at Photographx in KC, MO. I now have a favorite picture, which is of the Missouri River from the River Walk. I used Aperture Priority mode with f4.5 aperture and 1/1600 sec shutter speed. Then I took the photo to Photoshop and added a vintage look. I LOVE how it turned out. I hope I can take more photos like this!!!
Ever since I took up photography, I have wanted to try adding some textures to the pictures. Well I finally did it! I used a ruffed up texture with a flower picture I took for my photography class. Check out the original versus the texture and the blending type. They all look pretty cool in my eyes. Can't wait to try some more textures in Photoshop.
So I have been sick for the last week and haven't felt liking doing anything including blogging, baking, photographing, digital scrapbooking, etc. I am super excited about a basic photography class I'm going to take in April at Photographx and the tutorials I've been reading on Jessica Sprague thanks to a referral from my Sister-in-law. I'm also thinking of taking some online digital scrapbooking classes from Jessica Sprague including,
Now We're Rockin' With Photoshop - Class 2 or Digi: In Deep - Class 3. Hopefully, I'll have some digital layouts to post this week. Check out this giveway for a
A BRAND NEW CANON 5D MARK II! OR A $2500 GIFT CERTIFICATE TO SOUTHWEST AIRLINES!!! This would be awesome to win. Also I got some new Photoshop Actions. So far I've tried the Golden Vintage look. There are a bunch of Photoshop Actions on the CoffeeShop blog and they are FREE. The tutorials are really helpful too! Check it out. So we should be finally getting our Wedding Album in a few weeks. We had our photographer design it with our/my input. I think it looks great from the proofs she sent me. I had her match the cover to our wedding invitations that I designed. So part of me wishes we would have saved the money and I designed it myself. So I am going to make albums from scratch with all the pre-wedding festivities and the honeymoon pictures. I am using Adobe InDesign as the program for the albums. I have already started the Honeymoon album. Here's a sneak peek:
Last weekend, I went to Indiana to visit my relatives. I managed to forget my camera for the main event, a going away party for my uncle. He is going to London, Africa, etc to be a missionary for four years. It ended up being a fun afternoon at a local community center with food, dessert, games and prizes. So I managed to only get a few pictures with my new camera. Here are the best ones. I'm still learning how to work my camera, and how to make a picture look better in Photoshop. I'm planning on taking a photography class in the next month or two with a friend. I'm so excited to learn more. This website was helpful so far. I've also been looking at other photographer's websites to get ideas. Of course I'm a fan of Laura Kathryn Photography. She took our wedding pictures and has a unique look to her pictures that I absolutely love. I like the old fashioned sort of look of this picture. I've also been following Mikkel Paige who is just starting her photography business, which would definitely be a dream of mine. If anyone has any tips on how to improve my photos please let me know! All comments welcome :)
